"Horrid Henry's Happy Family" is the twenty-sixth episode in Series 2 and the 78th episode overall.
Synopsis[]
Mum, Dad, Peter and Henry enter a happy family competition. Can they win it?
Plot[]
The episode begins with the family in the park when Henry throws a slug on Peter's sandwich. Peter cries 'Mum!' then she and Dad tell Henry not to be horrid and go find something to do.
So Henry goes off to play football and Dad relaxes as Mum gives Peter another sandwich when a man named Mr Snapshot who comes over, takes their picture and tells them about the happiest family competition they’re running, the family agree to enter and takes an entry form except Henry who just kicked his football messing up the picnic by accident and refuses to take part. Dad tells Henry he will make this work, or else TV will be a very distant memory for him, making him scream, 'Noooo!!!', opening the title card.
While having tea, Stuck-Up Steve and Rich Aunt Ruby told the family they also entered the same competition too. Peter's suggestion to flowers arranging much to Henry's dismay. Mum agrees. Although Steve manages to take the last piece of the cake before Henry, Peter offers him a sandwich only for Henry to find it's has cucumber inside and yell he hates cucumber. Mum then tells Henry and Steve to go outside and play. Henry agrees before yelling 'As long as I don't have to eat... CUCUMBER!' at Peter. In the garden, Steve then tells Henry that he and Ruby are going to win first prize which is a fabulous two week family holiday on a tropical island. After changing his mind, Henry agrees to enter it and tells them to call Happy Henry. With that, Ruby says this should be interesting.
Henry then walks out of the school and meets Al who wants to play football with him. Henry said he can't because he has to get home and is practicing being the happiest family ever. Al says, 'You're going in for that competition?', and Henry said, 'Yeah. And, I'm gonna make sure we win it, too.', and tells Al to call him Happy Henry, but then Margaret heard him and said the competition is hers (she’s also entering too) to Susan who says ‘Yeah, Mine. I mean yours’.
As the family practice cleaning the living room, Henry hoovers dust on the floor but Peter keeps telling him he missed each spot twice, so he tries to suck up Bunny only to get sent to his room and Margaret looks through the binoculars watching Henry and Mum arguing. They practiced being happy by hanging up the washing, but whenever Henry wasn't looking Margaret moved the basket using a long stick, which made him blame Peter much to Margaret's delight.
In the competition, each family was off to a good start but then Margaret takes all the toys out of the box and puts them inside, which made Henry blame Peter. It failed when Henry gives his brother a teddy bear. Next, Steve puts the plate of sandwiches that Henry hates by switching the other ones. The three families do things to be happy and made it to the second round. However, when Henry's family is having tea with Miss Crunch the judge as the final task, Henry says that he loves cucumber to prevent himself from getting angry and eats it unhappily, which makes his family relieved. To Steve and Margaret's dismay, they scream 'Noooo!!!'.
After winning the competition, Henry happily relaxes on the tropical island with his parents leaving Peter buried in the sand and asking him if he can come out now, ending the episode.

Trivia[]
- Mrs Crunch returns to host the 'happiest family ever' competition.
- This episode marks the first appearance of Anxious Andrew's parents, in a cameo appearance.
- This is the only episode when Margaret and Steve scream Noooo!!! together.
- This is also the first episode where Stuck-Up Steve screams Noooo!!!.
- This is the only title card which features the whole family in it.
- Henry was obviously pretending to like the Cucumber Sandwich that Peter gave him as he shows a disgusted face when eating it, unaware that it wasn’t actually Peter who gave Henry those cucumber sandwiches as it was Steve who switched the sandwiches to make Henry lose his temper and lose the competition.
- In real life, Margaret and Steve would have been disqualified from the competition for cheating (if they had been caught) because they disrupted Henry’s family’s responsibilities they were supposed to carry out in the competition.
Errors[]
- When Mum tidies the bowl in the living room, Bunny that was lying in the couch has disappeared for a moment.
- When Stuck-Up Steve said, 'Mother! Look what you've done!', the other plate with the fork is missing.
