Synopsis[]

When Dad announces that his new job means they're going to have to move house, he is thrilled as he won’t be living next door to Moody Margaret. But then he realises moving house means they are also leaving Ashton, and his friends.

Plot[]

The episode begins with Henry coming into his house annoyed and telling Peter that Moody Margaret got the new Gross Class Zero game. Henry says he wants as in needs it too and is fed up of living next door to her then Peter tells him he won't have be for much longer. Henry asked Peter ‘What do you mean, Worm?’. And Mum told Henry that Dad has a new job, which means they're moving house. At first, Henry was happy and tells Mum the new house should be nearer to Ralph’s house without any girls living next door but she said it will be further away because Dad's new job is in another part of the country. Henry yells, 'NOOOO!!!', showing the title card.

The next morning, Mum enters Henry's room and asks him to get out of bed, but then he was already up. She asks Henry if he's feeling alright, and Henry says he doesn't want to be late for school. As he leaves his room, Mum thinks he's coming down with something.

In the garden, Dad was pulling out flowers as Henry sneaks into Margaret's garden. He surprised her, which made her jump. Henry pretended to be nice to Margaret, and Dad listens to his voice. Margaret thinks Henry has gone mad because she remembered the last time he saw her. Henry covers Margaret's mouth, and Dad hears him saying something nice to her, and he smiled then goes into the house. Henry leaves Margaret alone and calls her a mouldy old measle once again.

Henry asked Ralph to get their other friends together at his house this afternoon and make them say how much they'll miss him since he won't be here soon. He'll pay them to say it with sweets, so he and Ralph got on with his plan. Mum comes back to find all the boys in the living room, then William starts crying, and Ralph tells her that they’re all going to miss Henry when he moves away, and Al says he's such a good friend and very wise. Mum asked Bert if he feels the same way too, and he said, 'Uh, I dunno.' but Ralph says he does and that they’ll really, really miss Henry, Mum was amazed, but she says they are moving away and they’ll just have to get used to it. Henry groans in misery.

At school, Miss Oddbod says to Henry, what a lovely day it is since she heard he's moving. In class, Henry tells his classmates that he is moving before making a bet for his desk, and all the girls were happy except the other boys. Miss Battle-Axe comes in, and she notices that Henry's leaving them and sends him to his desk and smiles happily. Henry tells the audience that everyone's happy to see him go.

At his house, Mum says that they're having a farewell party for the whole family, so Peter makes the invitations but Henry was not inviting anybody. Then Dad comes and tells them that everyone is buying him a leaving present, so Henry changes his mind and runs out pushing past Peter. In the park, Henry says to his friends how much he'll miss them and asked for a present like the new Gross Class Zero game to help him remember them by, and Al said they might have a collection, and Henry says they'll have a farewell party at his house on Saturday.

The big day arrives at last. The doorbell rings and before Peter could open it, Henry rushes to open it saying that could be Ralph with his leaving present, however it is only Rich Aunt Ruby and Stuck-Up Steve, the latter says they want to make sure he's actually leaving which made Henry sarcastically laugh. The doorbell rings again, and Henry opens the door again to reveal Miss Lovely, much to Peter's delight as he takes her to the garden along with his present and Henry comments ‘what a toady-toad’. As the day rolls by, Henry answers to more guests, such as Bossy Bob and Bossy Bill, Prissy Polly, Pimply Paul and Vomiting Vera, and Great-Aunt Greta since Ralph still hasn't brought his present yet. Henry opens the door to another guest.

In the garden, everyone is having a good time, except for Henry, still awaiting Ralph. Henry asks Bert where Ralph is, and he said, 'Uh, I dunno'. Henry then says ‘Ha, so much for my so-called friends’, and Dad makes a speech to everyone thanks them for coming, saying how much they'll miss them, but Henry says he won't miss them at all, and Mum tells him not to be horrid. Ralph finally shows up with Henry's present, but when he opens it, he finds out he was not given the new Gross Class Zero game, instead, he was given a Snowglobe with Roly Mo in it. Everyone was touched with the cute present, but Henry is furious, and lashes out at everybody - hoping that his new friends, and everyone else in his new hometown are more generous than his old ones, much to Mum and Dad's shock and anger, and to Ralph's bewilderment at Henry for his rude remarks against everyone and grounds him from watching TV, Pocket Money or Sweets.

Days following the event, the doorbell rings, and Henry answers it to Ralph at the door. Henry stumbles his word about what he said the other day, and Ralph accepts his apology as Peter passes by with box of bunnies. They both say goodbye, and then Henry goes to do one more thing before he leaves, where he sneaks over to Margaret's treehouse and pours spiders inside through the opening window, knowing she will miss him through that.

Back at his house, His family tells Henry that they're not moving after Bossy Bob saw how many people came to the party and couldn't take them away from everyone they know. That means they're staying here just like Henry wanted. Mum asked him if he's happy when they heard Moody Margaret screaming from next door. Dad asked Henry if he's being horrid, and he laughs saying, 'You bet I am!', ending the episode.

Characters[]

Trivia[]

Roly Mo Snowglobe

The Roly Mo Snowglobe.

  • Henry's friends give him a snowglobe as a leaving present. It contains a figure of Roly Mo from The Fimbles and its spin-off, The Roly Mo Show. Roly Mo previously appeared as a toy in "Perfect Peter's Pen Pal". He is also mentioned in "Horrid Henry Goes to the Movies", where Prissy Polly says 'hold on a Roly Mo.'. Roly Mo can appear as he, along with the two shows he appears in, was produced by Novel Entertainment, which also produces the Horrid Henry TV series.
  • The only family member who did not attend the farewell party was Fussy Uncle Francis, Dad's younger brother. This could be because the episode takes place before Uncle Francis is introduced to the series.
  • It appears Moody Margaret, Sour Susan, Singing Soraya, Gorgeous Gurinder, Lazy Linda, Miss Oddbod, Miss Battle-Axe and Stuck-Up Steve are happy to see Henry leaving.
  • The music in this episode is significantly more sombre than usual, giving the episode an extra layer to its melancholy air.
