"Horrid Henry and the Name Game" is the ninth episode in Series 2 and the 61st episode overall.

Synopsis[]

Henry and Peter adopt a cat - or rather, it adopts them - but they just can't decide what to call it.

Plot[]

One morning, Peter opens his window, bids the world a good morning and to the butterfly too. Meanwhile, Mum was already Henry's bedroom opening his curtains and telling him to get out of bed now but Henry told her it's Sunday meaning no school today and hides under his covers. While picking his dirty clothes on the floor, Mum tells Henry to think of all the other things they can get done today like cleaning, washing, ironing and going for a walk. She pulls off the covers in rage while saying that they will start with Henry getting out of bed. With that, Henry yells "Noooo!!!", opening the title card.

The next scene shows Henry joining his family in the kitchen where Dad greets him as he pours some milk into his bowl but it runs out and he says "More Milk!". Mum corrects Henry by saying "We need more milk, please" which is what he said and told him try the doorstep.

In this episode, a black cat appears on Horrid Henry's family's doorstep as Henry picks up a carton of milk and they adopt it. Unable to read the writing on the note, Henry decides he would like the cat to be named 'Buster', though Perfect Peter would rather it be called 'Tiddles'. Inspired by their parents, Henry and Peter set out to collect votes on which name is most popular. Meanwhile, the cat, struggling to cope with the arguments, leaves their home and Moody Margaret adopts it instead. Henry and Peter see it in her garden and Margaret calls it Fifi. They later discover that the cat was truly a girl, as it gives birth. With that, Henry and Peter scream 'Noooo!!!' as Dad and Margaret laugh about what they are going to call the new born kitten, ending the episode.

Characters[]

Quotes[]

Horrid Henry: His name is Buster!

Perfect Peter: No it's not, his name is Tiddles!

Horrid Henry: Buster!

Perfect Peter: Tiddles!

Horrid Henry: BUSTER!

Perfect Peter: TIDDLES!

Trivia[]

  • The title is possibly a reference to Shirley Ellis' song "The Name Game".
  • In the Horrid Henry Unlocked podcast, Henry mentions that Margaret ended up naming the kittens in the end. This would make sense seeing as she owned Fifi by the end.
  • When Henry and Peter had Fifi, she had an orange collar, but when Margaret had her, she had a pink bow. This shows how girly Margaret is, and how much Margaret Loves Pink.
  • Henry should've been the one to name the cat as he opened the door to the cat.

Errors[]

  • At the beginning of the episode where Mum wants Henry to get up, Henry says, 'But it's Sunday. No school today, remember?', but when Henry and Peter collect votes to see what the cat's name is, Horrid Henry writes The Queen, Dad says, 'Are you telling me that Her Majesty The Queen walked down our road this Saturday morning?'.
  • When Margaret tells Henry and Peter that Fifi was living with her, Henry's house is darker than usual.
  • When Peter is campaigning by the climbing frame for Fifi to be called Tiddles, Goody-Goody Gordon's trousers and shoes are the same colours as Tidy Ted's.
